A bed made from single sheet of 22mm 8′x4′ Birch ply. CNC routed and pre-finished. By leaving tabs to connect the pieces together the sheet it is kept whole for easy storage and transport.
I feel it is important that the user engages in the making process, consequently their are no instructions, pre-determined holes, tools or screws supplied. Flat pack, but not as we know it. Inspired by the sight of beds left on the street. As a designer i feel it important to study this as a possible reality for all the products i make. By using the absolute minimum material to create the product when discarded i hope it will decrease waste. By asking for an increased level of engagement from the user and generating a sense of ownership through making i hope to counteract this as an inevitability.
