I wanted to explore our  use of shelving. I feel we could categorise their use into two, Display and Utility. Display shelving is usually  set up to house a collection, books or ornaments, objects that  are  rarely touched.  Utility shelving seems to be added and subtracted from constantly and generally has a habit of gathering more and more stuff that we maybe don’t need. This piece aims to explore both aspects. As display it can sit untouched and finely balanced. As Utility shelving it serves to disrupt the habit of gathering more and more stuff by periodically dumping your stuff on the floor.
